Everyone must of heard of “The Sims”, the biggest selling franchise for the PC! Well they have now made the game for your iDevices! You can now play Sims on the go, at any time, and anywhere!
When you first launch the app, you are greeted with happy “Sims” themed music, then to the main menu. The main menu consists of; Goals Checklist, More Games, Music Library, Options and Help & About. Along with a “Start Game” and “The Sims Store” option.
When you press “Start Game”, you have 6 new game save slots where you can save different games. When you go to CAS (Create A Sim), you are greeted with a very user friendly interface. You can change the gender, skin tone, hair style/colour, eye colour and clothes. The graphics in CAS are pretty amazing and are key for being a powerful game on a handheld device.
When you are finished, you get to choose a “Persona”. This is what your Sim will be like throughout their life. You could pick the “Nice Guy” Persona. This means you need to have good relationships with everyone in your Sims town in order to keep your Sim happy.
You can also pick “Traits”. These will pick your Sims personality. If they have the “Shy” trait, they wont mind being by themselves for long periods of time. The “Mean-Spirited” trait may make your Sim want bad things to happened to others. You are able to pick up to 5 traits.
After your done personalizing your Sim, you can name it anything you want!
When you press continue, you are in your Sims home. This is where you can buy items, sell items, build extensions, and keep your Sim happy.
This game uses the “Pinch to zoom” feature of iOS to turn the camera angle around. There is also a zoom scroll bar to set the zoom level.
One bad thing I found with this is that it can be hard to see your Sim at all times. Especially since your using a small device, you cannot see a lot of your house as well. However, the graphics are still really good in the house, just as they were in CAS.
If you want to get a job or visit town, you simply go to the Sims house entrance, and press the button which appears.
Since I do not want to give away too much of this open-ended game, I will not say anymore! Overall, I would highly recommend downloading this app if you loved playing Sims on the PC or any other console and want to play it on the go. The only thing that may turn people down is the high price point in which it is set at.
